April, 2009 Chicago – Vandoren introduced its much anticipated V12 reed for classical alto saxophone to an eager and energized audience. Like its clarinet counterpart, this new cut features a very precise attack, homogeneous timbre in every register, controlled altissimo and a warm, velvety sound. These reeds are available for alto saxophone in strengths from 2½ to 5.

The new V12 reeds “feel like they are the same reeds that I have played for years but with a warmer sound throughout, particularly in the middle and low registers, and a great response!  I am quite moved by how these reeds played initially, and I am so excited that they are ready,” exclaimed Otis Murphy, Vandoren artist and Professor of Saxophone at the prestigious Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. “This is the type of reed option that I have been looking forward to for quite a while.”
