The 2018 Vandoren Emerging Artist Competition Grand Prize Winners showcased their talents and dedication to their craft at this year’s Music for All National Festival. Classical winners Ryan Toher (clarinet) and Julian Velasco (saxophone) premiered works by composers Amanda Harberg and Mátti Kovler during the Chamber Music Concert with the CCM Trio. Jazz winner David Milazzo performed during the Jazz Band of America Concert.

“This is one of my favorite events every year,” commented DANSR president Michael Skinner. “Not only do we get to experience new commissions by some very talented composers, but we get to hear them performed by incredible young musicians. I can safely say the future of clarinet and saxophone performance is very bright in the hands of Julian, Ryan and David.”

In addition to their MFA performance, the grand prize winners each receive a $1000 cash reward, free product package, and a trip Paris, France where they’ll have the opportunity to visit 56 rue Lepic, the home of Vandoren.
