Think About It

Have you ever experienced something that feels like "2 steps forward and 5 steps back"? This is frustrating because for the amount of work we devote in the practice room we want forward steps exclusively!

Is your practice ruled by routine?

Have you taken the time to search yourself for the things that might be holding you back both in and out of the practice room?

Does your routine reflect a plan that works on those deficiencies?

Think About It

In the repetition that consistency requires, do you just repeat the music, or are there other elements that could be practiced in a repeated manner that go beyond just playing the right notes and technique (i.e. posture, breathing, mental focus?

What are other aspects of playing that add to the positive outcome of a consistently good performance?

How can you bring intentionality to these areas

Think About It

If you think of all your possessions, where does the value of your dreams and aspirations measure up to everything else?

Are there things that have kept you, or keep you, from being willing to sacrifice at a level that matches the value of your dreams?

If you feel like you are on a non-stop train of sacrificing for your dream, take a moment and define the successes you have experienced along the way (if you can't recognize the success, check out October 12th advice below).

Can you see your success?

"The sun may not shine the same everywhere, but it’s still shining. Success may not always look the way you imagined. But, if you’re wise or just plain lucky, you may recognize it while you’re living it. The way you treat unexpected success can dictate the ETA of the successes you’ve dreamed of."

- Melvin Jones

Think about it...

What keeps you from seeing your successes in the present as opposed to the past, no matter how big or small they are?

When you see those successes, how will you build on them? How will you protect them from being torn down?
