Date Posted: May 03, 2016
The New York Philharmonic estimates that Stanley Drucker has performed in 10,200 concerts over his sixty year career with the orchestra; a Guinness world record for longest career as a clarinetist.
Mitchell Estrin, a former student of Drucker and former member of the New York Philharmonic, sat down to chat with Stanley for this installment of the Vandoren series, Conversations in New York. In chapter one, they discuss Stanley’s musical upbringing, his early clarinet teachers and influences, and his time at the Curtis Institute where he crossed paths with Robert Marcellus, Bernard Portnoy, Marcel Tabuteau.
